Tulle Queer

  • West Art 800 Buchanan Avenue Lancaster, PA, 17603 United States (map)

At the cross-section of fashion and fantasy, you’ll find Brady Pappas. As a non-binary artist, Brady uses the camera as a tool to illuminate the queer culture in South Central Pennsylvania. With a goal of immortalizing the underground queer life in the 717, Brady has made a staple of themself as the it-photographer documenting the joys and celebrations that take place in the nightlife scene at drag shows, dance parties, and gay bars, capturing the essence of community with unparalleled intimacy.

Beyond the dance floor, Brady’s artistic vision establishes a sacred realm within small-town life through their yearly exhibition “Tulle Queer.” Launched in June of 2022, this collection of colorful portraits, adorned with tulle fabric, pays homage to their chosen family and the array of LGBTQ+ icons shaping small-town life in Pennsylvania. Tulle Queer exhibits throughout the region every summer for Pride and this year “House of Tulle” will grace the Sanctuary of West Art in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for one night only on June 7th.

Accompanying the photo exhibition will be an art market featuring local artists and vendors offering tooth gems, flash tattoos & tarot. The evening will also feature performances from Lancaster drag icon Nevaeha Le’Vixenn and others.

Celebrate small-town queer culture and the strength, beauty, and resilience of our community for Pride! The event will take place from 5-9 PM at West Art — 816 Buchanan Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603
